According to recent research, Lansbrook home prices have been going down much faster than the national and county averages while in other areas, higher price homes have displayed much more price resilience than lower priced homes. Homes for sale in Lansbrook spend almost twice as much time on the market as they did just six months ago and sell furthest under their listing price than ever before. Additionally, the foreclosure rate in Lansbrook has been steadily increasing creating an unprecedented supply of homes for sale.

A recent “exit” poll from 17 couples looking at homes in Lansbrook neighborhoods indicated that the registered sex offenders and know pornographers and swingers in the neighborhood was either “the primary reason” or “one of the influencing reasons” for not buying the homes they were looking at. Despite recent petitions to get these registered sex offenders and pornographers out of the neighborhoods and keep them away from our children, nothing has changed. As a result, our children remain vulnerable and our property values continue to fall precipitously.

Stan and Monique Antonuk live at 5180 Jewell Terrace in Juniper Bay Phase 4. Stan Antonuk is the CEO for pornography, adult entertainment, and advertising company Kowabunga (AMEX:KOW) which owns and operated such websites as “Swappernet.com” and “Eroticy.com” both containing adult content of an extreme and obscene nature. Swappernet is in the business of promoting home-based sex parties where participants are encouraged to swap-wives for profit. Antonuk’s sex, pornography, and wife swapping business grosses tens of million of dollars per year and seems to have a ever growing need for new models and wife-swappers.

Lansbrook Pornographer Stan Antonuk Accused of Prostitution

Stan and Monique Antonuk live in the Juniper Bay neighborhood of Lansbrook. Stan Antonuk has been accused of operating an obscene business through his Kowabunga company that publishes obscene pornographic materials, promote and sponsor wife-swapping sex parties, operating a sex business without any age verification controls to prevent children from attending, and operating a prostitution ring.

Stan Antonuk and his Kowabunga pornography, adult entertainment and advertising company where recently published in the St. Petersburg Times. A self described religious organization which seems to have been very instrumental in bringing charges against Paul Little (recently sentenced to prison for a very long time for 10 counts of obscenity) was apparently falsely claiming ties to the Countryside Christian Center: http://www.tampabay.com/news/humaninterest/article706880.ece

This article does seem to verify Antonuk’s obscene pornography business, his ties to the swinging lifestyle and these wife-swapping sex parties, as well as his businesses association with the nudist community. In fact, the nudist community of Caliente located in Land O’ Lakes Florida seems to be very upset that Antonuk and his business are promoting their wife swapping sex parties in their community.

While its not clear what association Antonuk has with Paul Little, it is clear that much of the content on Antonuk’s pornographic websites is obscene and now that his activities have been brought to the attention of Chief Assistant State Attorney Bruce Bartlett it will not be long until Antonuk is facing his own obscenity charges.

These are not the type of values that we should be promoting in our neighborhood. Allowing a man like Antonuk to live and socialize among our families will not only threaten the tranquility and family values of our community but also severely threaten our property values as this story continues to gain first local and then national attention.

ENGINEERING PROGRAM COMING TO CARWISE MIDDLE New electives offer hands-on experience with Math and Science

What an exciting year we have ahead of us! Carwise Middle School, in collaboration with the Academy of Engineering at East Lake High School, is proud to announce that we will begin offering a series of pre-engineering courses beginning this upcoming year. In line with the new state Math and Science standards and supporting the national STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) initiative, we have adopted the middle school curriculum called Gateway To Technology ™. GTT® is a part of Project Lead The Way®, a national, not-for-profit educational program that helps give middle and high school students the rigorous ground-level education they need to develop strong backgrounds in Science and Engineering.

What began as a brainstorming session for meaningful electives for the new 7-opportunity schedule grew into a series of talks between teachers and administration at Carwise and J. Paul Wahnish of ELHS to develop a program to spark student interest in industrial/technical education. We felt there was a need for a series of electives that would provide all levels of students with a hands-on experience with real-world Math and Science. The program will be open to 7th and 8th grade students as a year-long wheel elective, and will be supplemented by a robotics club that will hopefully participate in US FIRST robotics competitions.

This program would not have been possible if it were not for the support of our administration and the Career Technical Education Foundation, Inc., a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation, (formerly known as the East Lake High School Robotics Boosters, Inc.). CTEF is committed to building partnerships that will support the highest quality educational and career opportunities for students served by Pinellas County Schools. We have also partnered with Pinellas County Schools’ Workforce Education office, which has recognized the need for our students to explore career paths in industrial and technology-based fields. Carwise will be the first middle school in the county to offer this curriculum.

Our Own Congressmen Gus Bilirakis Exceeds $1 Million for Re-Election

Our own freshman Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Palm Harbor, has raised more than $1 million for his re-election fund which makes him the second Tampa Bay area congressman to raise at least $1 million, exceeding $1.05 million.

Bilirakis joins Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Bartow, in reaching that fundraising plateau, with Putnam's total now more than $1.35 million.

These new numbers are detailed in the latest campaign committee filings with the Federal Election Commission this week, reflecting fundraising and spending from January 2007 through the end of June.

They show that all five of the Bay area's members of Congress - Putnam, Bilirakis, Democrat Kathy Castor of Tampa, and Republicans Ginny Brown-Waite of Brooksville and C.W. "Bill" Young of Indian Shores - continue to stock their war chests at rates dwarfing the amounts of the hopefuls seeking to unseat them.

Sheriff to Address Palm Harbor Coalition

The Palm Harbor Community Coalition has invited Pinellas County Sheriff James Coats to speak at a community meeting on Thursday, June 26th at 7 p.m. to explain to the citizens of Crystal Beach, Ozona, Palm Harbor and East Lake how the recently proposed budget cuts to the Sheriff’s budget would impact this community of nearly 100,000 residents. The meeting will be held at the Palm Harbor Community Activity Center at 1500 16th Street in Palm Harbor. The public is invited to attend this meeting and ask questions.

The proposed budgets cuts would eliminate the Community Policing Unit in Palm Harbor and East Lake; would eliminate the Traffic patrols for North County; and would eliminate the DUI unit for all of Pinellas County.

The mission of the Palm Harbor Community Coalition is to plan and work together as a coalition of individuals and community groups, to identify and advocate community needs and ensure the return of our FAIR SHARE of tax dollars to Greater Palm Harbor.

Kyle Willard always wanted a 1995 Honda Civic. For 14 months, while he served as an Army infantryman in Iraq, he told his wife to get him that car.

He returned home last month.

As far as he knew, she'd failed. But on Thursday night, his wife and friends surprised him at Auto Audio in Palm Harbor with a tricked-out, rebuilt 1995 Honda Civic in his favorite color, gunmetal gray.

"When they turned the lights on, my heart dropped," Willard said. "I was stunned. I had no clue.

"I've been wanting one for a long time, been working real hard to save my money. It was one of my goals when I got back from Iraq to get one."

Lansbrook Residents Operate Home-Based Prostitution Ring?

The illicit business practices of Stan and Monique Antonuk from Juniper Bay seem to have raised the eyebrows of some officials as well as at least one local religious organization.

Stan Antonuk is the Chief Executive Officer for Clearwater based pornography, adult entertainment and advertising company Kowabunga. Through his Kowabunga business Antonuk operates such pornographic websites as eroticy.com and swappernet.com which organize, sponsor and promote home-based sex parties that promote wife-swapping and other group sex practices for profit. Stan Antonuk and his wife Monique Antonuk live on Jewell Terrace. Of particular concern is the lack of age verification controls for party participants and whether such home-based parties can be tolerated by the Lansbrook Master Homeowner Association bylaws.

Kowabunga is a public company traded on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX:KOW) and Antonuk was recently forced to disclose these websites in Security and Exchange Commission filings. A Google search on the keywords "Kowabunga THK Swappernet" will reveal these disclosures.

While it is not quite clear yet if the Antonuk’s for profit sex parties can be considered prostitution, it does seem that his business earns millions of dollars a year from these parties. Too bad it is not going to do the same thing for our property values!

As an honors and advanced placement history teacher, O'Donnell helps East Lake High students understand great discoveries, the growth of the global economy, the rise of democracy and the fall of empires.

But there's one thing he can't explain: Why he has to leave.

And that has students and parents rallying to his side.

After 35 years teaching history in Pinellas County, O'Donnell, 56, finds himself in a spot he didn't anticipate. Five years ago, he, like many other teachers, signed up for the state's Deferred Retirement Option Program, or DROP.

More than 120 dogs seized from alleged puppy mill

More than 120 dogs were removed from a Tampa Bay home after authorities found them living in what they called deplorable conditions.

Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies say they found the dogs at a home in East Lake, packed two to seven to a cage. Some had broken legs, while others were undernourished and had sores from living in wire cages.

Deputies say most of the animals were living in their own feces and urine.
The injured dogs were taken to emergency animal clinics. The others will be given to shelters.
Authorities are conducting an animal neglect investigation and the matter will be referred to the State Attorney's Office to determine if criminal charges will be filed against 69-year-old Teresita Hughes, the dog breeder who owns the home.

An East Lake Florida woman found an 8-foot alligator in her kitchen

When she called 911, the operator was skeptical, asking if the creature might actually be an iguana, but video confirmed that an alligator had invaded the woman's kitchen.

The reptile apparently squeezed through an open sliding door at the back porch, sauntered through the house and wound up in the kitchen. Animal Control was called in, and the alligator did not appear to be entirely happy about leaving its new home.

Lansbrook Master Association Directors and Meetings

The Lansbrook Master Association (LMA) is governed by a seven member board of directors, who are elected each year at the Annual Membership Meeting for two year terms. Each community appoints a delegate, who votes on behalf of that community, having one vote per lot. The 2008 LMA Board of Directors is as follows:

Meetings will held in the East Lake Firehouse on Tarpon Lake Blvd.
